South Solitary Island Lighthouse 140th Anniversary

An essential piece of maritime infrastructure, the lighthouses that circle the Australian coastline are as individual as the locations where they sit. As relevant today as 100 years ago, each lighthouse represents many things to mariners – danger, safety or civilisation. To those on land perhaps an enigma and something to check out on a road trip.
Join the Friends of South Solitary Lighthouse (FOSSIL), the Coffs Harbour International Marina and Coffs Harbour Yacht Club in celebrating the 140th Anniversary of the historic South Solitary Lighthouse. A flotilla of power boats and yachts will be setting out from the Marina at 10am on a course to ‘the light’ and return. There will be a barbecue back at the Yacht Club afterwards with drinks at bar prices.

To learn more about the South Solitary Lighthouse and how our volunteers go about maintaining our heritage just wander down to the Downunder Bar for a bite and a drink when the boats get back around 2pm.
